19980926 Chicago:Actress and author Jamie Lee Curtis was the honoree at the Cradle Ball,an annual fund raising event for the famed prestigious adoption agency,ÓThe CradleÓ which is located in Evanston Illinois.The agency is celebrating 75 years of froming families through adoption.Opened in 1923 it gained prominence in the 1930Õs when notables such as Bob Hope,George Burns and Donna Reed adopted their children from the agency.Since then,The Cradle has found adoptive homes for more than 13,000 children.Jamie Lee Curtis and husband actor director Christopher Guest,has two adopted children.CurtisÕ childrenÕs book about adoption ÒTell me Again About The Night I Was BornÓ has sold more than 100,000 copies and has become a valuable education resource for adoptive families of adolescent children.Asked why she wrote the book,Curtis stated,ÓI canÕt imagine a more joyful experience than a family adopting a baby.And there is very little written about it.Adoption is a celebration.Ó
