CHICAGO: September 1: The producing team of The Color Purple and Fantasia Barrino announced a a fundraising campaign to build houses for the still displaced families of New Orleans Kicking off in Chicago , the remaining cities on The Color Purple fall tour will join this fundraising effort.Ê The Color Purple is partnering with a local New Orleans Õ organization, St. Bernard Project a grassroots, volunteer-based nonprofit, to rebuild the homes.ÊThe press conference was on September 1,2009 at the Hotel Sofitel in Chicago,IL.
